If you are considering taking up match shooting (National Service Rifle) then this is a great book for all levels of shooters. M/Sgt Owens addresses the subject in typical USMC no bull perspective, explaining what works and what doesn't when employing the rifle sling. Even an experienced individual can find some usable advice and lessons in this book.

I am so happy to see these books hit the Kindle store. I am a Hi Power rifle shooter as well as an NRA instructor and USA Shooting coach. I use the information in Mr. Owen's books all the time when introducing youth shooters to rifle shooting and competition. I also use them for my own improvement. If you are just starting out, these books are invaluable, if you are less than Distinguished or High Master, I'm sure they are still really useful. A wonderful resource.

If you are participating in High Power Rifle or John C. Garand matches, you should have this book, and it's companion. This book gave me many tips, tricks, and insights from a Master. Some of it was too technical for me at my level, or does not apply to me, and he tells a few geezer stories along the way. But I highly recommend his books. I will read it over and over. I purchased this book because I was looking for guidance on how to use the leather sling. It also will improve my positions greatly.
